Health Services Foundation to Support Emergency Department Redevelopment at South Shore Regional Hospital

SSRHIt’s good news, years in the making.

The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore is exceptionally pleased to hear of the provincial government’s approval of the Emergency Department Redevelopment at South Shore Regional Hospital.

The $112.7-million investment from the Province will see the expansion of the Emergency Department, as well the 32-year old hospital’s Day Surgery and Endoscopy units. It will also add a 12-seat Dialysis Unit to South Shore Regional.

Eric Whynot, Chair of the Health Services Foundation’s Board of Directors says he, the Board and the Foundation team are very excited to see this project move forward.

“The Foundation has been sitting around the table since talks of this expansion reignited a couple of years ago. This project has been a long time coming and it is going to have a huge impact on the healthcare our friends and neighbours will be able to receive at South Shore Regional Hospital. We are exceptionally proud and look forward to supporting the Nova Scotia government on this project.“

Construction is anticipated to start Spring 2020. Read the announcement from the provincial government here.

The Health Services Foundation has been raising funds in support of South Shore Regional and Fishermen’s Memorial hospitals for over 27 years.
