Health Services Foundation Board Welcomes Three New Faces

NEWboardmembersWith large projects on the horizon, the board of the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore has added three new members to its ranks, all with business backgrounds.

If you are planning or attending an event at the Best Western Plus Bridgewater, there’s no doubt you have met its Director of Sales Tina Grace. Born and raised on the South Shore, Grace understands the importance of having the ability to access medical services in our community. She says she was kind of taken back, totally surprised, and then honoured at being asked to join the board of the Health Services Foundation. “I really want to give this 110% and help make an impact on local healthcare.  This touches people we talk and work with each day so local healthcare needs to be the best it can.” While Grace is jumping head first into helping raise funds for the Foundation, you will more than likely catch her at the Women’s Giving Circle this November at the Best Western Plus Bridgewater.

Nick Saunders is not just the forth-generation general sales manager of Saunders Motors; he’s also continuing the family tradition of fundraising and supporting their community. He has been a sports coach and recently wrapped up working on the David Atkinson Bonspiel Committee.  “Community groups need to revitalize and I think our local business community can help with that. We (the business community) rely on people in our community to support us so; in return, we should support them! While mental health is an area of interest for Saunders, he would also like to focus on patient experience. “I hear a lot of feedback about having to travel for medical procedures in my business, as we sell vehicles. I want to be a part of this Foundation so we can look at situations like this and see how we can enhance the services we have on the South Shore. If we can expand or enhance those services, we can expand our population and our business community as well; it’s a win-win-win.”

 

Michelle Clare’s ties to the South Shore come through her employment. The RBC Regional Vice President for Central and Western Nova Scotia has a true passion for healthcare, particularly for mental health. “Healthcare is so important to everyone. It ensures a quality of life we need to enjoy our time here. I’ve been through the Nova Scotia health system with both my children and know how important positive experiences are to families,” says Clare. “While South Shore Regional Hospital and Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital aren’t in my back yard, they are the health centres my employees rely on.  I’m looking forward to learning how the Health Services Foundation impacts the health system in both small and big ways.” Keep an eye out for Clare at the Foundation’s fundraising events.
